Garage storage
Garage storage story
The original garage storage and workbench had been in place for approximately 15 years. A car had impacted the drawers and the shelves and the cabinets were sagging (particle board). The benchtop had suffered water impregnation swelling and other damage. The space was underutilized and generally not useful (toward the left side). Much material was stacked on the floor making access to a parked vehicle's trunk impossible. As well, spare/scrap material was stacked under the parked car.
Reimagining the space included floor-to-ceiling shelves, size-specific bays for the generator, rolling toolbox, and folding tables. Also, the "loft" is sized for eight-feet long pieces of material. An audible was called mid-build to increase the space behind the vehicle parked on the bench side by reducing the depth of the bench. There wasn't a credible loss of function or utility in doing so.
One bike hangs on the ceiling with a Floaterhoist, the Montecore is suspended from the shelves with a Gootus mount, the Breezer sits on another Gootus mount on the wall, and the Trek sits where its rider requested it be located.
The Memorial Drawer was a vision to incorporate a grandfather's memorial flag (WWII veteran) into the space as a memory to the owner. The original flag display box is incorporated into the drawer. The drawer front was routed to accept the bracelet and Good Conduct Medal.
